When I was blocked on social media X by Caitlin Clark over a year ago, her fans and those within the Fever organization itself laughed at my expense. With one click of a button, I was no longer a relevant fan of Caitlin Clark, was ostracized by her racist fans, and slandered as a stalker. But unlike Scott Agness, I never had the privileges he enjoyed as a credentialed beat writer for the Fever, and having full access to the team. Perhaps, the team saw me only as an overzealous fan of Clark who was trying to build my platform off her fandom and name.
As a former die-hard fan of Caitlin, I sang her praises with each logo shot and bullet pass, as she seemed flawless in threading the needle. Then, when she entered the WNBA, I defended her against known and unknown enemies even though I did not know the full story, or the circumstances involved. Chaos and trouble seems to follow Clark, as she likes to play the victim in each situation. However, in her 3rd season with the Fever, Clark is no longer believable as the victim. Only as the main perpetuator. She's no longer believable by many of her own fans. Her star has dimmed. And now, insiders within the Fever organization are talking to the press like Dan Dakich, and spilling the tea on Clark's attitude and behavior. They've had enough of Clark, and so have many of her longtime fans.
While at Iowa, Clark's on-court antics are well-known, and some of her former teammates suffered in silence putting up with her entitled and spoiled behavior. Then, the Fever inherited the problem.
Longtime die-hard fans of Clark did nothing to curb her horrible behavior in Iowa. New fans of Clark continue to make excuses for her while she is openly having mental meltdowns on the court, screaming in the face of referees, and blowing up on the sidelines at her coach Stephanie White and assistant coach Briann January.
The truth is necessary in this moment. Because Caitlin Clark needs to hear the truth. She doesn't need fans and the media continuing to coddle her and excuse her horrible behavior whether on the court or off the court.
I don't care about the logo buzzer beater against the Washington Mystics on June 8, 2026. Will Clark's behavior change for the better or get worse in each situation she lands herself in? Whether she remains a Fever next season or is traded to another team, she still has to grow up.
Clark's rude behavior whether to staff members or players will not be tolerated in another organization. She has to do the work to change what type of person she will become moving forward. Right now, the person vs. the player is all one and the same. If she's an asshole on the court, she is also one off the court.
Scott Agness should never have lost his credentials as a longtime reporter for the Pacers/Fever. If Caitlin Clark had spoken up for Agness, maybe he would not have had his credentials revoked. Do you know how painful it is to build these relationships within an organization only for that organization to give you the middle finger as if that tenure doesn't mean something? Apparently, Agness wasn't treated with the same kind of respect a journalist from a reputable organization like Fox Sports or ESPN is treated. What a shame?
